UTILIZATION OF PALM-TREE COMPOUND LEAVES IN FORMATION OF CELLULASES

Document Language : Arabic
Abstract : Cellulases are used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, palm-tree leaves are agricultural by-products and could be utilized in the production of these enzymes. Trichoderma viride produced greater amounts of cellulases when grown on palm-tree leaves than when grown on an equivalent concentration of filter-paper cellulose. The cellulases produced in palm-tree-leaf medium were precipitated by ammonium sulphate, and the precipitate was shown by column chromatography to contain C(x) and C1 components.
