Abstract : A microscopic study of proton total reaction cross section for Ca isotopes using Gambhir-Patil semi-phenomenological nucleon density has been made within the framework of Coulomb modified Glauber model under the optical limit approximation. It is shown that the semiphenomenological nucleon density gives a fairly good account of the observed isotopic trends of the reaction cross sections.
