Abstract : This study was carried out to evaluate the quality of a new glass ceramic insert (Cerana), after one and half year in vivo and in vitro. A total of twenty eight restorations were placed in seventeen patients, and all the restorations were evaluated at time of placement, at 6 month, 12 month and 18 month, using modified LJSPHS criteria. Restorations were checked for marginal adaptation, anatomic form. cavomarginal discoloration, secondary caries and postoperative sensitivity. The collected data for each patient at specific intervals were recorded and the obtained results were compared statistically. In vitro, (SEM) and dye penetration test were performed to check the marginal integrity of restorations. These findings suggested that the Cerana inserts exhibited excellent performance after eighteen month of clinical service. However, the quality of an insert restoration like any other restoration depends on the skill and knowledge of the operator
