Abstract : Abstract This research presents a study of the risk floods in the Wadi Gus area, east of Jeddah City, that occurred during the heavy rains in 2009 and 2011 which resulted in the injury and death of hundreds of people. Wadi Qus was studied in terms of population, surface runoff and the impact of floods on residential areas by using hydrological analysis and change detection methods for every five years from 1985 to 2015. Landsat 5,7 and 8 were used to study urban expansion and the buildings were extracted using Remote Sensing techniques for each time period. The study area has witnessed a large urban expansion in the last few years. It is therefore necessary to develop a plan to build good infrastructure in these areas because it extremely dangerous. This research is based on three main factors to identify areas at risk of flooding are the hazard, exposure and vulnerability. Some areas may be more dangerous than others, with population density and topography of the Earths surface. It may be one of the most important recommendations of this research is to stop these slums and thus the establishment of sewage streams from east to west ends up to the sea, this may result in the removal of buildings are basically located on the floodwaters, one of the biggest difficulties facing the city of Jeddah. The second chapter focuses on the theoretical framework and the previous studies. The third chapter includes the practical framework in hydrological analysis and detection of change. Chapter 4 included the results and recommendations. The study also included a list of references. Keywords: Wadi Gus, hydrologic analysis, change detection, watershed, Landsat, GIS
